Professor Antonio Fernando Freitas Tavares is Associate Professor in the Department of International Relations and Public Administration, School of Economics and Management, University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. Until May 2013, he was also the director of the Center for Research on Public Policy and Administration. His current research interests include local public service arrangements; and relationships between city size, institutional fragmentation (both municipal and subcity) and civic and political participation.
Dr. Tavares earned his undergraduate and MPA degrees at the University of Minho and his Ph.D. in Public Administration at Florida State University. He is in the United States to present a paper at the American Political Science Association annual meeting in Chicago and to work with co-author Professor Jered Carr at University of Missouri-Kansas City.
