The Classics, Archaeology, and Religion (CAR) Department is excited to host the 30th annual Homerathon Friday, May 3rd (Reading Day) from 1–1:45 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Swallow Hall.

Lunch will be provided beforehand from 12–12:45 p.m.

The Homerathon is a chance* for the broader classics community to read together one portion of the monumental works associated with "Homer".

We will read together the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, which retells the story of the abduction of Persephone by Hades, and the eventual compromise her mother reaches with Hades, thus allowing us to have "spring" every year, following the gloominess of winter.

Please RSVP to Dr. Tarkow at tarkowt@missouri.edu

*A copy of the translation to be used will be sent to everyone who RSVP's
