Boys In Crisis

Currently in our classrooms, boys account for 85% of the discipline problems in schools. Boys are the largest populations in special education, Title I, and those who have reading, writing, and math problems. Research has found that boys are the ones who have committed the violent acts in America’s schools and have the highest dropout rate in schools. “Worldwide, boys are 50% less likely than girls to meet basic proficiency in math, reading, and science.” Dr. Warren Farrell, Ph.D

“As boys become young men, their suicide rates go from equal to girls to six times that of young women.” Dr. Warren Farrell, Ph.D, Dr. Sherri Thomas and Ms. Christie Lewis will present a workshop that shows the “why” behind male behavior in schools and what schools can do to begin making school more “boy-friendly.”
