MU Theatre’s Life and Literature Performance Series 2018, Artistic Director, Dr. Heather Carver


The 16th annual Life and Literature Performance Series features cutting-edge original and adapted works by MU student authors, giving voice to emerging talent by staging a diverse body of new scripts. Come see an evening full of stunning solo performances, poetic and ethnographic works, original and even some classics with a twist.


FREE, first come, first seated, doors at 7PM.


This year’s two performances:

directed by Zahria Moore and Blake Willoughby

Written by an African American playwright, journalist, and poet, Safe is set in the American South during the 1930s and focuses on the birth of a child amidst an era of lynchings.


Passion Play

By Zahria Moore, directed by Cat Gleason

Mamie, Martha, and Mary come to the realization that the greatest challenge of being a mother is raising your son.
