MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to host a discussion on criminal justice reform

WHAT:

The University Missouri School of Social Work and Americans for Prosperity-Missouri are hosting a discussion on criminal justice reform in Missouri. The keynote speaker is criminal justice reform advocate, Matthew Charles. Following the keynote, there will be a panel discussion.

WHO:

Matthew Charles is an advocate for criminal justice reform and the first beneficiary of the First Step Act, a bill that assists those coming home from prison to readjust to society.

Additional panelists include:

  • S. David Mitchell, the MU Ruth L. Hulston Professor of Law
  • Casey L. Clevenger, Treatment Court commissioner, 13th Judicial Circuit
  • Kelli Canada, associate professor and co-director of the Center for Criminal and Juvenile Justice Priorities at MU
