Harnessing the Power of Quantitative Methodologies to Further Educational Research

Join us for " Harnessing the Power of Quantitative Methodologies to Further Educational Research" a keynote presentation by Dr. Amanda Olsen, College of Education & Human Development – Educational, School and Counseling Psychology, MizzouForward faculty candidate.  Dr. Olsen will present on her research for approximately 40-minutes with a 20-minute question and answer session to follow.

 

Dr. Amanda Olsen is an Assistant Professor of Educational Measurement and Statistics in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas-Arlington.  Dr. Olsen completed her BA in Psychology, Minor: Instrumental Music from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, and her MA in Educational Psychology-Emphasis: Human Learning and Cognition from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Dr. Olsen earned her Ph.D. in Statistics, Measurement and Evaluation in Education , Minor: College Teaching, Certificate:  Quantitative Methods from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

 

Informed by an interdisciplinary lens, Dr. Olsen investigates topics related to school climate and educational equity. Specifically, she uses quantitative research designs and methodologies, to examine relationships between various educational factors. Her work is currently being supported by a U.S. Department of Education Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant and a National Science Foundation Research on Emerging Technologies for Teaching and Learning (RETTL) grant.
