It’s Time for a Change: Developing and Applying Quantitative Methods in Longitudinal Studies

Dr. Yang will talk about her methodological research work in two areas, (1) handling missing data in longitudinal panel studies and (2) analyzing intensive longitudinal data. She will share details on two example studies about (1) estimating treatment effects in randomized longitudinal trials with nonignorable dropout and (2) using regime-switching state-space models to represent emotion regulation process based on facial EMG. She will also give a summary of her substantive research work using longitudinal data. She will talk about recent development in methodology, application in educational research, and her future research ideas that arise from past and current work.
