Required for all MU faculty members planning to lead study abroad programs, the goals of this workshop are to assist program directors in understanding their roles and responsibilities, along with the resources and support available through the International Center and the university. Faculty members are provided with guidelines for addressing health, safety and security issues impacting study abroad participants and student behavioral issues occurring on study abroad programs. Presenters include representatives from UM System General Counsel and the Office of Risk and Insurance Management. The workshop covers:

- Individual and institutional liability concerns
- Best practices for responsible study abroad programming
- Student management issues
- Student conduct
- Student emergencies

All faculty program directors and assistants who lead study abroad programs are required to attend this workshop every other year.
