Workshop: Health, Safety and Security in Faculty-led Study Abroad Programs: New program leaders

Required for all MU faculty, staff and student assistants planning to lead study abroad programs, the goals of this workshop are to assist program directors in understanding their roles and responsibilities, along with the resources and support available through the International Center and the university.  The workshop provides guidelines for addressing health, safety and security issues impacting study abroad participants and student behavorial issues occurring on study abroad programs.

Presenters include representatives from UM System General Counsel and the Office of Risk and Insurance Management.  The workshop covers: individual and institutional liability concerns, best practices for responsible study abroad prorgamming, student management issues, student conduct, student emergencies.

All faculty, staff and student assistants leading a study abroad program for the first time are required to attend this workshop. RSVP to William Palmieri ( by Oct. 13.
