The Division of Research, Innovation & Impact is so excited to welcome Nalini M. Nadkarni, professor of biology from the University of Utah, to Mizzou to give the keynote presentation for Accelerate Your Research Week.

Boosting the public engagement trajectories of scientists: Weaving parallel threads to our research trajectories

The need for scientists to engage the public with scientific concepts and knowledge is increasingly urgent. However, academic systems have traditionally provided little training nor rewards for scientists to forge and sustain public engagement activities. In this talk, Nadkarni will discuss examples of ways to weave broader impacts endeavors with research activities that both boosts public engagement and enhances the capacity and recognition of the academics conducting them.

Lunch will be provided for those who have registered beforehand. Register here.

Sponsored by the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the School of Natural Resources.

About Nalini Nadkarni:
Nadkarni interweaves her research on rainforest canopy biota with those who do not have or cannot gain access to science education, including faith-based groups, corporations and people who are incarcerated. She has authored 150 scientific papers and books supported by the National Science Foundation and the National Geographic Society.
