In honor of Women’s History Month, A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini will discuss the compelling story of unlikely friendship, indestructible love, and heartbreaking sacrifice. Hosseini paints the experiences of Afghani women through Mariam and Laila, born a generation apart and brought together by war, loss, and fate. A bond is formed between the two women that will change their lives and the lives of those coming after them. This intense tale shows how a woman's love for her family can lead to acts of self-sacrifice, and that in the end it is love, or even the memory of love, that is often the key to survival.
We appreciate that attendees read the book, synopsis, and/or reviews to best engage in the discussion.
