Presented by the UM System Office of General Counsel, UM System Office of Risk Management and MU Office of International Health, Safety and Security, this workshop prepares program leaders to navigate legal issues related to COVID-19, employ best practices for risk mitigation and increase their understanding of the benefits provided for COVID-19 by the university-negotiated insurance for students and program leaders. It will cover MU student behavioral expectations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and guidelines for addressing student behavioral issues occurring on study abroad programs. It will conclude with a case study about a COVID-19 medical evacuation. The workshop covers:

  • U.S. and international legislation related to COVID-19
  • COVID-19 vaccination information and U.S. disability legislation
  • COVID-19 risk mitigation measures
  • University of Missouri insurance coverage for COVID-19
  • MU student behavioral expectations related to COVID-19
  • COVID-19 medical evacuation case study

This workshop is required for all faculty, staff and program assistants who have leadership roles for MU study abroad programs during summer 2021.
