The Southwest Research Center will host Estate, Succession and Retirement Planning seminars on three days in January -- Thursday, Jan. 17; Thursday, Jan. 24; and Thursday, Jan. 31. (Thursday, Feb. 7, will serve as a bad weather date.)
Each seminar will run from 6-9 p.m. The registration fee is $110 for the first person -- additional persons from the same farm entity are $50 each. A light supper is included each evening. Participants may also register for a single night. The cost is $45 for an individual and $20 for each additional person from the same family/farm. A light supper in included each evening.
Session 1 (Thursday, Jan. 17)
Introduction and Retirement: goal setting; effective communication; calculations and planning
Session 2 (Thursday, Jan. 24)
Succession Planning: why plan your estate; who should be involved; what materials you'll need; business organization; choosing advisors; SWOT analysis
Session 3 (Thursday, Jan. 31)
Estate Planning: propery ownership; estate and gift taxes; wills; non-probate transfers; gifting; insurance; stepped-up basis; probate in Missouri
The classes will be facilitated and taught by University of Missouri Extension faculty: Darla Campbell, Karisha Devlin, Chris Kempke, Joe Koenen, Mary Sobba, Andrew Zumwalt.
