Rarely screened in the US, this comedic, neorealist gem is a landmark film for the Korean New Wave. Released on the cusp of South Korea's democratic reform, the film follows two working class billboard painters navigating Seoul's hectic hyper-modernization. It depicts the hopes and aspirations of Korean youth in the late 1980s, when the country was gradually democratizing.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by the MU Asian Affairs Center.

This screening is part of Ragtag Cinema's Show Me Series and sponsored by the MU Asian Affairs Center. It is free and open to the public, but tickets are recommended (details). Vaccination card or proof of negative COVID test is required.
