As instructors, we are often eager to bring discussions about social injustices into our classrooms, but we may be unsure of the most productive ways to structure and facilitate these challenging conversations. Join Flower Darby, Associate Director of the Teaching for Learning Center, and Dr. Christy Goldsmith, Associate Director of the Campus Writing Program, at the Conley House on Friday, February 17 from 12:00-1:00 pm for lunch and dialogue about leading challenging conversations in the classroom. We’ll ground our discussion in an excerpt from Not Light, But Fire: How to Lead Meaningful Race Conversations in the Classroom (Kay, 2018), and we’ll hold space for personal reflection and classroom application.
