MizzouForward Keynote – Embarking Upon the Ruminant Pan-Epigenomic Era
November 8th | 11:30pm - 12:30pm
Animal Science Research Center, Room S147
Join us for “Embarking Upon the Ruminant Pan-Epigenomic Era" a keynote presentation by CAFNR-Animal Sciences, MizzouForward faculty candidate. Dr. Stephanie McKay. Dr. McKay will present on her research for approximately 40-minutes with a 20-minute question and answer session to follow.
Dr. Stephanie McKay is an Associate Professor of Genetic and Genomics in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Vermont. She completed a B.S. in Biochemistry and Genetics as well as her M.S. in Veterinary Pathobiology at Texas A&M University (College Station, TX). She earned her PhD in Animal Science from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, AB, Canada)
The overarching goal of Dr. McKay’s research is to utilize the latest advances in biotechnology while developing new methodologies and resources to determine the extent to which epigenetic and epitranscriptomic modifications contribute towards economically important traits in livestock. While many epigenetic modifications exist, her current research focus is on 5-Methylcytosine, 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine and N6-Methyladenosine. The context in which her lab studies these modifications include neuroepigenomics, comparative epigenomics and functional annotation.
You can access Dr. McKay’s CV via OneDrive here: McKay_CV_10142022.pdf (University log in required to access)
After the keynote, please provide candidate feedback with our brief survey.
