Medical scribes can be described as “documentation assistants” who transcribe information into a patient’s electronic health record (EHR) under the supervision of a physician. Scribing is great for students or graduates who are taking a gap year to prepare for medical school, a physician assistant program, and other health-related academic programs. Scribes will gain invaluable experience collaborating with physicians, learning medical terminology and using medical technology.
