Maria Parazo Rose is a spatial data analyst at Grist, where she writes and makes maps about Indigenous affairs, conservation, and climate migration. Maria will speak about “Misplaced Trust,” an investigation of how 14 public universities founded with stolen Indigenous land are still profiting from trust lands, which are often used for oil and gas production, mining, or grazing. This project builds on the groundbreaking “Land Grab Universities,” which examined how land grabs capitalized and transformed the U.S. university system.
PIZZA SERVED AT 5:30 PM.
