Adapted from her full-length play (An Amazing Story: German Abolitionists of Missouri), Cecilia Nadal's short drama explores the historical founding of Lincoln University in the wake of the Civil War. Arnold Krekel, German immigrant and key figure in the Abolitionist movement, is starting his first day of class, teaching former slaves and freedmen who have returned from fighting in the war to found Lincoln Institute (which would later become Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri).

Presented in a "reader's theater" format, Two Worlds, One America recounts an important chapter in Missouri history that continues to resonate in the present.
